Senior Year: Update – Part 3 Blog

Well, it has been awhile since you have heard from me, and I apologize for that. Time has just slipped away from me. My schoolwork became heavy, and exams and projects took up a good amount of my time.

Even though my schoolwork became heavy, I made sure I took the time to have fun and relax. I have completed a few things on my bucket list over the past two months, and I think I have done a pretty good job accomplishing things.

Carved PumpkinI carved a pumpkin around Halloween and learned how to play beer pong with my roommates. It was fun, but I got a little too drunk. I have horrible aim when I am completely sober; so after a few drinks, I was at an even greater disadvantage.

We also had our margarita night, but it didn’t turn out as we had planned. We used watermelon to make the margaritas fruity and taste good, but the watermelon created foam and wasn’t sweet enough. We still had fun making them and hanging out.

Another item I crossed off my bucket list was sitting on the hill at a football game. I think the hill is the best place to sit for a game. I got to see the different games that are played in the end zone during time-outs and see what the student section looks like filled with cheering students.

I have also done some fun things that were not on my bucket list. I finally surprised my parents with a visit home. I have always wanted to go home to surprise them and was finally able to because I have my own car on campus. My mom asked me a few times what I was doing there because I had told her there was no way I could come home that weekend. My dad thought I was my mom when I walked through the door. It was great to see the shocked look on my parents faces.

I also got to see my brother’s first and last games of his freshmen football season. I was so glad I got to be there as he took the field for the first time as a Yellow Jacket.

Danielle and DadMy dad was able to come down for Dad’s Weekend one more time. It was the fourth time he came down, and we had just as much fun as the past three years. My relationship with my dad has grown a lot in the past few years, and I really enjoy when he comes down to OU. We get to spend the entire weekend just us.

The semester is starting to wind down, and I can finally see the end in sight. Soon I will be home for Thanksgiving and then back for a week of classes and finals. I cannot believe that my senior year is almost halfway over, but I am excited for the fun that is still to come.
